Every where we go people have commented on what a HAPPY BABY we have. It has definitely carried over to our sons toddler years. I read and started the self – soothing techniques when my son was 3 months old. He was not sleeping through the night until I read this book and started teaching him these techniques. Furthermore, the communication between our baby and us improved big time. All of the sudden as a first time mom I felt I could communicate with my baby and I understood what he was trying to “tell me.” This communication only got better. Since then, he has ALWAYS slept 10 – 12 hours a night and takes his naps regularly. He doesnt cry or fuss a lot as the subtitle of the book suggests. Just a happy happy baby and toddler and i attribute a lot of this to this book. Have recommended it to my sister and it worked for her. Our babies basically learned to lay in their crib and happily put themselves to sleep. I stuck to the same goodnight routine of bath, reading books, etc but when I lay him down in the crib, no complaints and he put himself to sleep. EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!!
Baby #2 due in 4 days – ordering the book again to reference (gave the other copy away). I do agree w/ one point some of the negative reviews have pointed out — I think 6 weeks, 8 weeks, etc is a bit too young to teach a baby to self soothe. However, you can start at this time – set the stage and when they get a little older I guarantee it will work if you stick to it!!
Highly recommend this book – so much better than other techniques I have heard about like letting your baby cry themselves to sleep. I have heard so many times that parents let their baby cry for an hour straight!
